“Slime Language 2” is now officially a gold record.

The second project from Young Thug’s imprint, Young Stoner Life, has gone gold.

Slime Language 2,' by Young Thug and Friends, Reaches No. 1 - The New York Times
Slime Language 2 had the sense it was going to be an unique collaboration when Young Thug, Gunna, and the rest of Young Stoner Life got together. The album, which features YSL musicians Unfoonk, Karlae, Yung Kayo, and Yak Gotti, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 in April.
Songs like “Diamonds Dancing” ft. Travis Scott, “Proud of You” ft. Lil Uzi Vert, “Solid” ft. Drake, and numerous appearances from the WIZRD himself (Future) were major draws, and the YSL army kept a lot of fans around to hear what the collective had to offer.
Slime Language 2 has now sold over 500,000 units in the United States, over seven months after its release.

DJ Akademiks praised Thugger’s success in the last calendar year when he shared the album’s success on his Instagram page. With a #1 album with Slime Language 2, two #1 singles with features on Travis Scott’s “Franchise” and Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy,” (the So Much Fun rapper also appeared on “Remote Control” from Kanye West’s Donda album), and now a gold certification, Ak was justified in saying that if Young Thug drops a project next month, he has to be considered.

According to Thugger’s Instagram and a t-shirt he wore at his NPR Tiny Desk Concert in July, Young Thug’s forthcoming studio album, Punk, will be released on October 15. Do you agree with Akademiks that when mid-October comes around and we get a full-length album from Young Thug, he’ll have to be considered for the artist of the year?
